Dancraft Stairs seen a shift towards more intricate designs

Gerald Vande Goor, co-owner of Dancraft Stairs in Woodstock, Ontario, tells us about the evolution of their business, which began in 1980 with two employees and has now grown to 25. Specializing in stairs and railings, they’ve seen a shift towards more intricate designs over the years, leading to increased time spent on customer consultations and design iterations.

As projects became more complex, it became cumbersome to rely solely on 2D drawings and inspiration images that clients showed from platforms such as Houzz and Pinterest. There was a significant gap between what clients envisioned and what could be conveyed through traditional methods. Feeling the need for a solution, Dancraft Stairs explored 3D design software and eventually invested in Staircon Professional after a year of consideration.

The investment in Staircon brought significant benefits, enabling them to accurately visualize and present stair designs in the right environment such as properly positioned windows, balconies and walls. This greatly aided the decision-making process for customers, who could now easily compare different design options and provide quick feedback.

In addition, Staircon provided excellent training and ongoing support, making the learning curve manageable. Looking ahead, Dancraft Stairs plans to integrate more CNC technology into their workflow and leverage their newfound expertise in 3D design to improve efficiency and precision in production.
